Music scheduling
Automate your station's broadcast playlists, from initial setup to daily scheduling.
The music scheduling system in Soundwaves Studio builds hour-by-hour music logs for your station from your music library. This guide walks through every feature area, from initial setup to daily scheduling.
Music scheduling has its own menu inside each network: Overview, Build (Clocks and Templates), Run (Logs, Reports, Metrics and Issues) and Settings (Rules, Dayparts, Pass Orders and Settings).
How it works
The core workflow is:
- Set your scheduling settings: broadcast hours and custom fields.
- Check your categories: the groups of tracks in your music library that clocks draw from.
- Define dayparts: named time periods across the week.
- Set rules that prevent repetition and keep the music varied.
- Configure pass orders for the order categories are filled in.
- Build clocks that define the structure of each broadcast hour.
- Assign clocks to the week using a template (a 7-day x 24-hour grid).
- Generate schedules for a date range.
- Review and fix the results in Logs, then get them to your playout system.
