Step 5: Pass orders
Control the order in which categories are scheduled.
Go to Music Scheduling > Settings > Pass Orders.
A pass order is a ranked list of subcategories. It sets the order in which the scheduler fills each hour's music positions: positions for subcategories higher in the list are filled first, so they get "first pick" of tracks before rules such as artist separation start to rule candidates out.
Default behaviour
Without a pass order, the scheduler fills each hour's positions in clock order, from the top of the hour down.
The playlist generator in Studio doesn't let you choose a pass order yet, so schedules you generate from Studio are filled in clock order.
Creating a custom pass order
Select categories. Under Select Categories, tick the subcategories to include. They're grouped by category. Use Select All or Select None for quick selection.
Order the categories. Under Scheduling Order (drag to reorder), drag the selected subcategories into your preferred order. Subcategories higher in the list are filled first.
To change a pass order, click it in the list, make your changes and click Update Pass Order. Click Delete on the same page to remove it.
When to use custom pass orders
- When you want your most important categories (for example "A-list") to be filled first, regardless of where they sit in the clock.
- When a small category often ends up unscheduled because larger categories used up the artists it needed first.
